Puerto Rican boxing star Miguel Cotto is set to return in the ring this year fighting rising star and WBA super welterweight champion Austin “No Doubt” Trout. It’s going to be an epic night at New York City’s grand venue Madison Square Garden.
Although he may be unknown to many, Austin Trout (25-0, 14 KO) currently remains undefeated and the current WBA Super Welterweight. Cotto (37-3, 30 KO) will be looking to be the first to end Trout’s winning streak. The showdown will then determine who would be top contender to land a fight with Saul Canelo Alvarez. Tune into the powerhouse match on December 1st.
I’m going to be on this sight right after the fight. If cotto beats mayweather it would be a meordn day Cinderella man movie. Cotto would deserve praise from every one especially those that doughted him. Some times the under dog deserves to win, and if cotto can pull it off, he is one of those guys that you wouldn’t mind watching achieve that sort of greatness. Cotto is the good guy in this drama, and most of us want to see the good guy win at the end of a movie. And what’s a good movie without a great villain, to most of us mayweather is the super villain of boxing, the dragon that burned 42 brave nights that tried to slay him in previous battles. As in all the the good vs evil movies we expect good to conquer evil, but this is not your typical good vs evil story. As a matter of fact its not a good vs evil story at all. Mayweather is dubbed the super villain in boxing why? because he is arrogant, and he talks a lot of shit about being the greatest in a sport that he was blessed with god given talent to be great at. And as if talent is not enough, mayweather dedicates himself 100% with a work ethic that is unmatched by any other fighter in the sport. Mayweather is not challenging washed up fighters at catch weights, and beating the shit out of other great fighters with illegal hand wraps in his gloves, or trying to break a dudes nose with a head butt just because he is frustrated he can’t land clean punches. These are the acts of the true villains of the sport. This is not a story of good vs evil, it is a story of good vs great. We are all going to tune in May 5th to see if cotto is good enough to match up against the great talent of Mayweather. And for those of you expecting the fairy tale ending in which cotto upsets mayweather keep this in mind, (in the words of the great roger mayweather) this is not a movie, rocky is not going to wup Apollo creeds ass. This is real life and Apollo is going wup rocky’s ass convincingly. Believe that.
